Learning Strategies

It is not a easy thing to learn a foreign language and we need to put a lot of efforts into it. However, it is far from enough. Proper learning strategies will help you learn more efficiently. For me, speaking and reciting are more useful.
Speaking may be one of the most widely accepted ways to learn English. When we speak aloud, we can hear our pronunciation clearly and change our mistakes straight away. What’s more, speaking requires us to form several complete sentences during a very short time, which forces us to think in English rather than just translate sentences. I highly recommend we start the day with a beautiful article and read it aloud on a balcony or other nice place. Choose some articles that can inspire us. Not only can we improve our English, but we can also put us into good mood, ready to enjoy the whole day.
Reciting also contributes to my English learning, but, someone may feel it is too  boring to do a thing like that. In my opinion, however, reciting enlarges my vocabulary and improves my ability to express myself. When I read, I tend to copy my favorite parts and try to recite them. Such parts can be a description of a nice place, an accurate description of one’s mind, etc.
That is all for my suggestions; I hope everyone can enjoy themselves
when learning English.

  1. It's a excellent way to learn english! But I often find it hard to persevere it. It take a long time to read it and recite it. Could you please help me with it?

    1. Sorry to reply so late. You are right;it is not easy to continue doing things like that. Maybe what we have learnt in class will help you. Just read what you like.

    2. Charles, maybe it would be easier to only receite certain passages from certain articles--not whole articles... That way maybe you can still keep the habit, without taking too much time...

(If anyone wants to read anything to me, I will be happy to offer corrections on stress, pronunciation, etc.) ^_^

  2. The way you provide is simple, effective, and most importantly, is very romantic!!Imagine a girl(boy is also okay but not that romantic as a girl.....)sitting in a balcony on the second floor, drawing every passerby's attention, and everybody on the street is staring....and...yeah, the girl is reading, I nearly forget that....Aha, anyway, it is a joyous way actually

  3. Vivian, I really like your writing style--you wrote very naturally and shared your personal opinions as if you were writing to a friend. Classmates, please notice how she humbly acknowledged that her strategy might not work for other people (i.e., how it might be boring to others), but she still supported her "underappreciated" strategy with good examples and clear reasons why it works for her. Nicely done! ^_^

  4. I totally agree with your opinion. In China, lots of teachers and classmates suggested that we should read an English article loudly in the early morning. I am a lazy man, and I just use the time to sleep more... I really think I should try this method. Hope it can work well!
