Just being yourself

Different people have different preference. However, some people like to oblige others to change their preference, and some other people might believe others’ words and change their opinions easily.

I think there is no need to push everybody to have the same hobbies. We are able to share different information, because of the different preference. For example, some people like Chinese movies and some other people like American movies. When they meet each other, they could know more about movies and they might be more interested in movies. If everybody has the same hobbies, there might be fewer products, so the world may be boring.

People also should think twice before they decide to change their opinions. I still remember the plot in “Friends” that Phoebe, who is one of the heroines, said to Ross, who wants to persuade her to believe the evolution, “Are you telling me that you are so unbelievably arrogant that you can’t admit that there is a teeny, tiny possibility that you could be wrong about this?” Ross replied: “There might be a teeny, tiny possibility.” “I cannot believe you caved,” phoebe said, “you just abandoned your whole belief system. How are you going to face yourself?” It is just for fun, but we can learn something from it. We don’t need to quit our opinions for others. The most important thing is that you can face yourself.

Maybe just being yourself, not obliging others, not being affected by others easily, is a good life style.
