Post 80s generation

In China, we have the post 80s, 90s, 00s generations. Three or four years ago, there was a fierce debate among people on the post 80s generation. Their preferences are quite different from their parents. People cannot tell whether this generation can take over the responsibility from their parents or not. In my opinion, they did a good job.
Some opponents say that the post 80s generation has two main drawbacks. The first one is that they prefer to get all they want without sharing. Due to the one-child policy, one family could only have one child, so they parents excessively cared about their living condition, health and education, as a result, people tended to think that they would grow selfish, arrogant and dependent. The second one is that they prefer to get more money by any means. They were born just after the reform and opening-up policy, they witness the rapid development of China, they didn’t want to follow the poor lives as their parents; they prefer to leading a life with Starbuck, Nike and Apple. Therefore, they acquired for more money.
But from some facts, we can see a totally different post 80s generation. They prefer to devote themselves into volunteering. During the Wenchuan earthquake, we can see that the most of volunteers were the post 80s generation. They set up websites to call for help, they donated their blood and they managed to collect money. They did all they can to help the people in Wenchuan. Also, they played an important part in the 2008 Olympic Games. Usually, they took the most tough work as well as great responsibility.
From these facts, what I saw is a generation which is confident, responsible, and ready to help others. We should acknowledge the post 80s’ contributions to the whole society.
