A Turning Point
I can clearly remember an important turning point during the preparation period of the college entrance exam. At that time, when only about a hundred days were left before the ultimate exam, I still could not got ideal grades though I thought I had tried my best. After a practice exam in which I was disappointed by my grades again, my class teacher had a talk with me. He pointed out that the only reason why I failed to get good grades was that I did not do as much exercise as other students did. He told me how much contents my classmates would averagely cover every day, and I reluctantly accepted the truth that I did not do enough exercise compared to them. Then I started to ponder how I managed my time. I realized that a habit of managing time was deeply rooted in my mind since I began my student life; I usually play first before doing homework. When I was in primary school, everyday when I returned home after school, I would put aside my school bags and began to watch cartoons or play with my brother until my parents returned home. Sometimes if my parents came back late, I would find that the time left at that evening was not enough for finishing homework. Hence, through my primary school's life I often failed to finish my homework. Also, back to the preparation period for college entrance exam, I still kept this time-wasting habit that I would play different kinds of sports every afternoon until my high school's compulsory study time began in the evening. Though I studied very attentively during the study time, I did not learn as much as others did every day. While I were enjoying myself in basketball courts, my classmates were absorbing mass knowledge at the same time! Since that conversation with my class teacher, I decided to give up my sports time and devoted it to study. I did made notable progress after that.

Ha~To tell the truth, I think that many students in high schools in China are deligent. I believe that some of us,you and I included, have done enough exercises during that special period, but I still get my worst grades at last. Maybe it is destiny and I think it is good to some degree now. In NUS, we do not need to do a great deal of homework but to try to understand what we learn. Best wishes to you and I believe in you that you will have a great time in the university.Ha~~
ReplyDeleteIn the beginning, I mistook the word "exercise". The word "exercise" also has the meaning of doing sports. I thought you might need more sports. But at last, I know that it was sports that wasted your time. Sports has a good effect on study, but too much sports is not sensible. Beginning to pay more time in study is a turning point in your life, which is effective. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I have been usually played before finishing homework during my student's life, even before the college entrance exam. Although I know it is not a good habit, it is hard for me to correct it. I am happy that you made great progress at last!
ReplyDeleteA good habit is the wealth for whole life. Developing a good habit usually begins with the correction of a bad one. I think it is a encouraging experience for me and I will try my best to correct my bad habits.
ReplyDeleteI think everyone has his or her own study habits and time management. There is no need to always change yours according to what others said. As for me, I dislike to go to study room. It is my habit and I just cannot study well in study room. Haha, so just be what you are:D
