Learning strategies

There are different kinds of strategies in different periods of one's studying time.

For me, when I was a senior high school students,I listened to the teachers carefully

and kept notes on my class. I reviewed my recently-received knowledge after

class and try my best to finish my homework (Although I hardly ever finished my

homework thoroughly).

These strategies are enough for my high school study. But not for now.

There are English, and more English every day, boring and tiring as the routine is

all the same day after day. So what I need is not only a strategy for study, but also

a strategy for living. It's important to get rid of the negative attitude to studying and

daily life.

All studying methods resemble one another (for example,to keep a vocabulary

notebook, review schoolwork every day, to talk more and listen more, to have a

plan and put it into effect, etc), while entertaining methods have their own ways.

I think reading English books and watching sitcoms are both good ways both to

relax and study. We read not just for developing our reading skills, but also for fun.

And so do the intention of watching English TV shows. To some degree, playing

games of english versions on computer and browsing English websites are also

good ways to learning English while playing.

  3. I totally agree with the entertaining methods. If we can ues this way correctly, we will be attracted in English.

By the way, What you said "So what I need is not only a strategy for study, but also a strategy for living." is really interesting. Study for life. the strategy for living is for studying too, in some degree.

    1. It proves to be the saying "it's never too old to learn". I also don't want to be pushed to study. So it's necessary to find a good reason to adapt to the life style. I think so.

  4. Ray, I agree completely with your strategy--do the necessary work (of course!), but also take steps to make English an enjoyable part of your life!!! I'll try to do what I can to make class as fun and interesting as possible; after we go through all of the work, that is... ^_<

I'll give you detailed comments on your English when we next meet; see you soon! ^_^

  5. I think your writing is very interesting. English learning is no longer that boring. I find myself focus on the chinese subtitle while I watch movies, however. Thus, I suggest that when watch movies, try to use English subtitle.
