Different people have different personality. There are many diverse ideas about what factors affects personality.
Some traditional Chinese people think the Chinese zodiac has something with people’s personality. Chinese zodiac is a scheme that relates each year to an animal, according to a 12-year mathematical cycle. Each animal sign represent some certain personality, like a person, whose Chinese zodiac is rat, might be considered as a manipulative, vindictive, ruthless, intolerant, and scheming one. If it is true, to some extent, people share same personality every 12 years.
Another famous factor is zodiac. Zodiac consists of 12 constellations. Each constellation shows exclusive personality. Like people, whose constellation is Capricorn, are always pessimistic, shy, and conservative. Some people think celestial body movement affects people’s personality, and after they investigate some people, they find some similarities between people who were born in closely days. Based on statistics, they came up with zodiac theory.
The last two factors are more scientific. One is gene, the other is environment. Gene decides born personality, and environment changes people’s personality. Between these two factors, the environment has a more important position in determining personality. It is easy for people to become others who are around them.
However, I think the important factor is people’s mind----who you want to be. If people are eager to be outgoing, they can achieve their goal, no matter what zodiac they have, what gene they get, and how the environment is. It is possible to change their personality.

Now in China, it seems that many girls are crazy about constellation, and they use constellation to choose an ideal boyfriend....For me, however, I do not believe constellation at all. I think the descriptions of people with different constellations are very similar. I agree with your last paragraph that people can change their personalities by their mind.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. The most important thing is our mind; what kind of people we want to be. Everyone has his or her own personality; everyone is different. In this case, the zodiac theory may not be correct or many people are the same. I don't think zodiac is the factor that changes people's personality. It is just the culture and is fun.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading your blog, I am wondering whether zodiac is a kind of environment factor, so that it can influence peopele's personality. Maybe personality can also influence mind. Personality is a really complex item. There is still a long way to go to find how the personality is shaped and developed.
ReplyDeleteA person can change his/her personality as compared to changing his/her character. Personality describes one's preference given a certain situation s/he is in. As for character, this takes time to change but it is not impossible to do so.
