Perseverance

This week we are talking about the personalities and values. As is commonly acknowledged, different people have different personalities, and it is difficult find two people with exactly the same personality. Among most of the successful people, however, there is a similarity of their personalities; most of them are perseverant. This precious personality trait ensures them not to give up until they succeed.
To be perseverant is not easy. As is often the case, quitting smoking and losing weight seem easy, but they are rarely achieved in reality. There is something thought-provoking in this paradox. Just as the sword does not wear the stone as dripping water does, it might be easy to do something in a short period, but in the long run, things turn out to be quite the opposite. For example, it may be easy to run 1000 meters every day for a month, but in a lifetime, it seems impossible. Many people give up running without fulfilling their dreams after several months due to will shortage. The problem is not the resistance, but the inertia.
There is not any short cut in life. One should be strong-willed and steadily stick to his or her dream. It is better to concentrate the energy, thoughts and mind exclusively on the business; hang on there and be patient. For instance, Thomas Edison failed thousands of times before he successfully invented the light bulb; Albert Einstein struggled with mathematics and physics for a long period before he discovered the quantum theory. These two outstanding men tried again and again and never gave up until they succeeded. As the two examples illustrate, I hope it is sufficient to show the significance of the perseverance. As the proverb goes, no one can cheat people out of their dreams except themselves.

  2. It is hard to be perseverant. Most things that require perseverance are what people don't want to do. Doing what you do not like is as painful as marrying whom you don't love.

I think the first step to be perseverant is to love these tough things, like the best way to be satisfied with the marriage with whom you don't love is to love him or her.
Edison likes invention; Einstein likes physics. Both of them did successfully. When we can love our tasks, we can do well, too.

  3. Yes, many people fail to be successful just because they cannot keep trying. I also give up many of my dreams. Now, I feel quite sad but during the rest of my life, I will try to be more brave and never give up.

  4. Perseverance is a very good personality in my mind, which is also very hard to keep on. It needs our patience and confidence to develop our perseverance in life, and our success is determined not only by our intelligence, but also by our perseverance.
