When
I was a little boy, I would like to visit zoos to see tigers, lions and
elephants. I am still curious about animals now, but I do not want to see
animals in the zoo, because I feel sorry when I see these animals limited in a
small place.
Zoos
are once established for protecting animals, but now it has become a place to
have fun. Some animals are even caught from their habitats to meet visitors’
curiosity. I have been to the Singapore Zoo. I saw many animals from many parts
of the world, but they were not in a good state as the wild animals. I saw two
lions: One was lying and the other was walking in the small tiger cage. One of
my friends even shouted at the tiger and tiger had already lost their
fierceness. I have also seen the elephants in the Singapore Zoo. All of them
are ridded by trainers and did many unnatural movements. Audiences were all applauding.
At that moment, elephants were only the toys of human beings and of no dignity.
How does a zoo show its function as a haven of animals? It is actually the
prison of animals.
Animals
are friends of human beings. How can people treat friends as toys? I think more
natural reservations should be established to keep animals in a natural state
rather than keep them in “prisons”.
I agree with you. The point is that animal do not have the same intelligence and power with human. They cannot win their right from human to live freely as they want.
ReplyDeleteGood point! However, maybe I cannot totally agree with you, just like what I said in previous blogs. ^_^
ReplyDeleteI also think zoo is not a suitable place for animals, but some animals' habitats have already been destroyed. They do not have enough place to live so they have to live in zoos. Although zoos are sometimes cruel for animals, we cannot abandon them now. It's better to improve the condition of zoos.
ReplyDeleteI am uncertain about my opinion on this issue. When I see the animals living unhappily in the zoos, I think that we should not keep them in zoos. However when I realize that zoos are important places for people especially for children to learn about those animals, I change my thought. Almost every child starts to know about these animals from zoos. If zoos do not exist any more, where can children see the animals?
ReplyDeleteThere are still some zoos are haven for animals. People do not have enough money to build enough nature reserve, so it is impossible for people to replace all zoos with nature reserves. Building zoos is the most viable way for people to protect animals today. I think the first thing for people is to perfect zoos.
ReplyDeleteI share the same point with you. Animals belong to the wild and they will feel lonely in zoos.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the emotion part of your opinion, their nature to be freedom is violated by human; however, to be realistic, the zoo may be one of the few places which can provide care and secure conditions to animals. I heard some zoos could release animals' offsprings back to nature.
ReplyDeleteI admit that traditional zoos are not good for animals, but now we have ecological zoos, like the one in Changsha. Animals are much more free in these zoos, while humans have to stay in a "cage", a well-protected bus. Haha~
ReplyDeleteWhen a wild animal is not wild in a zoo any more, we human-beings need to think more about how to protect wild animals.
ReplyDeleteMy relatives went to the safari at A'Famosa in Malaysia. Apprently, they were travelling in a truck that has railings around them. It was like a cage. I recall that they were joking about how they felt like they were the "animals" in a zoo, with the animals looking at them in curiosity. While they may joke about it, I think none of us would not be able accept it if it were to become our new home.
