There are many different kinds of personalities of different people. Among all these personalities, I admire honesty most. Honesty contains two aspects.
The first aspect is that people should be honest to others. Some may think that being honest means the person should not tell lie at all, which is impossible to some degree. In people’s lives, there are really some situations at which people need to say something unreal; for example, people may need to tell a “white lie” to avoid hurting someone else’s feelings. And these lies are caused by people’s kindness and sympathy. I define honest people as the ones who try their best to tell the truth and tell lies just for righteous purposes. Do not be afraid of admitting the mistakes made by him or her and challenging tough situations in life, he or she can be honest. Being honest, one can be free of blaming himself or herself because of cheating others, as well as be free of a sense of guilty conscience.
The second aspect is that people should be honest to themselves. Many people have been told to “follow your heart”, which is exact what I mean. To follow one’s heart, the person need to make decisions based on one’s own thoughts and interests, rather than other’s opinions. Are other’s opinions worth listening to? The answer is yes. Considering others’ ideas give us an all-round perspective, which is the premise of making a sensible choice. The important thing is that one’s priority should be one’s own interest. If one is honest to oneself, he or she can be dedicated to what he or she is doing.
Being honest to both others and themselves, people can enjoy life more.
Being honest is one of the most important personality one should have. But sometimes it is really hard to tell the truth. And also, "follow your heart" is important but sometimes people need to lie to themselves to have a rest. The importance is that whatever we do, do not let ourselves regret.

ReplyDeleteI like honesty best and I also follow honesty for many years. Although sometimes the turth may hurt others, I do not want to tell a lie, because I believe I have to make more lies in the future to cover it. Usually, at this time, I will choose to say nothing or say that I do not want to tell. Honesty is the most important personality for me when choosing close friends. Also, it is important to be honest to ourselves. I hope that we can keep honest both to ourselves and to others.
ReplyDeleteMost people have learnt to be honest towards others but forget to be honest towards themselves. Next week, we are going to choose our major but I did not know how to choose it. Now you remind me, follow my heart.
ReplyDeleteHonesty is the best policy. Compared to being honest to others, being honest to ourselves, in my opinion, is even more difficult. I think we should regularly question ourselves whether we have always been honest to ourselves or not.
